Dr Bindu Radha
Consultant Paediatrician
Dr Radha has more than 25 years of experience in Paediatrics and Neonatology and has always been passionate about providing the best family-centred approach to caring for babies and children from the perinatal period to adulthood. She completed training in tertiary hospitals in London, such as Imperial College, University College London Hospital, Homerton, Kent, and Surrey. She holds postgraduate qualifications in the UK from RCPCH, Kings College London, University of Cambridge, and India. She trained in Paediatric Allergy at Kings College Hospital and holds a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Paediatrics from there. She is an assessor for the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI) GP with extended role accreditation process.
Dr Radha is competent in assessing infant and child allergies and providing specific allergy treatments for food allergies, eczema, wheezing, and aeroallergen-induced issues. She has started the only oral food challenge and immunotherapy service in the East Surrey region. She also does General Paediatric clinics and supports children with various health issues from 0-16 years of age. She sees babies for a full postnatal comprehensive examination, advice on feeding, prevention of infant allergies, weight issues, weaning, timely introduction of allergenic foods, first aid training, immunisation advice, development assessment, high-risk baby and premature follow-up, follow-up of antenatally diagnosed scan abnormalities, infants of mothers with medical conditions, congenital infections, reflux, constipation, milk allergies, eczema, birth marks etc. Dr Radha has a specialist interest in supporting babies with early intervention in their neurodevelopmental care to help them achieve their maximum potential.
She is a consultant general paediatrician at East Surrey Hospital and has been the Lead for the Neonatal Fetal Medicine service there since 2016. She has held a regional lead role as the Joint Neonatal Clinical Lead at Surrey Heartlands Local Maternity and Neonatal Systems for two years until 2022. Dr Radha worked as a honorary consultant at the Paediatric Allergy department at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals NHS Trust. She completed a practitioner development programme at the University of Cambridge. She is the principal investigator at East Surrey Hospital for the HARMONIE trial, a multinational, randomised control trial that aims to prevent RSV infection in babies and children. She is the Joint Lead for an integrated Staff support postnatal care project which received a commendation from the office of the Princess of Wales. She regularly presents her work at national and international conferences. Dr Radha teaches on the Neonatal Life Support (NLS) course all over the UK since 2010.
